Set a performance budget that advertising cannot silently break
Protect loading, interaction, visual stability, data usage, and low-end devices before monetization.
Measure the user journey
Track loading, interaction delay, visual movement, transferred bytes, and long tasks on both mobile and desktop. A fast development computer can hide the cost of third-party scripts on a low-end phone or slow network.
Reserve advertising space
An advertisement that arrives late must not push the next button or paragraph. Give every approved slot a stable minimum size, collapse it safely when empty, and keep it away from navigation, downloads, and destructive controls.
Load only eligible demand
Do not load an advertising library on pages where advertisements are prohibited. Wait until the slot is near the viewport, enforce a response timeout, and keep a global switch that can disable a failing provider.
Price the performance loss
Compare net session revenue with bounce, completion, and return rates. A higher advertising CPM is not a win when it reduces completed release plans or increases support demand.
Release-ready checklist
- Mobile and desktop have separate measurements
- Slots reserve stable space
- Blocked pages load no ad tag
- Providers have timeouts and a kill switch
- Revenue is compared with completion and return
